I'm releasing at least half way through the range circles at a stable altitude of 10, - 12, ft. My hits are close from a side-to-side target aspect but the near-far distance is almost always off. Thanks for the update Vanguard At first I was flying TOO mode and setting my wypt directly on the target in the mission editor, including the proper target elevation. Confident I'd found the reason for the accuracy problem, I switched over to PP mode.DCS Store.

The Hornet is able to reach supersonic speeds, nearing around Mach 1. It is equipped with the FGE enhanced performance engines which is the more powerful engine that replaced the original FGE's. The Hornet entered service inand first saw combat in over the skies of Libya with numerous Hornets performing suppression of enemy air defense SEAD strikes and conventional ground-attack missions.

Notably, the aircraft credited with the kills went on to resume their strike mission and dropped their 4 Mks 2,lb unguided bombsliving up to their multi-role moniker. The Hornet took its first combat losses in the Gulf War as well; in total 10 Hornets received battle damage, which included 3 losses 2 to ground fire, and one very likely to an Iraqi MiG All told, Hornets flew a total of 4, sorties during the Gulf War. Both have a suite of switches, termed a "hands on throttle and stick" HOTAS setup, to control various avionics functions that are combat-critical without having to take the hands off the throttle or stick.

The relevant specific sections should be consulted for detailed information on HOTAS functionality with a given system. The Hornet's throttle is located on the left console and consists of two separate levers to control the left and right engines.

An aft detent separates engines off and engines idle and a forward detent separates full military power and the afterburners. The off detent has no range, but the afterburning detent has proportional control.

The control stick is located in the center of the cockpit, mounted on the floor. It has a "fly-by-wire" FBW system, which, opposed to a traditional mechanical or "direct" control system, the inputs given by the cockpit controls are inputted to a computer which then decides what controls to move in order to accomplish the desired maneuver.

The FCS also moves surfaces as a function of the angle of attack to provide the best control. The control stick controls the stabilators, ailerons, and rudder and the rudder pedals control the rudder. The FCS will limit the aircraft to a specific G-force no matter the control input. The G-limit is based on weight and will not exceed 7.

The aircraft's flap system provides more lift and as a byproduct, drag. The flaps switch has three positions:. In the left area of the forward panel there are three flap indicator lights. The speedbrake is a flap located on the top of the aircraft designed to provide drag to decelerate faster. It is activated via the speedbrake switch on the throttle. The three psotitions are:. The stabilator and ailerons are capable of being trimmed to make roll and pitch corrections. This is accomplished with the trim switch on the control stick. It has three positions which can only be alternated by pulling the lever out, which unlocks the wings. The left and right gear have large suspension and are designed to take heavy impacts, upwards of approximately feet per minute, due to the aggressive touchdowns of carrier recoveries.

The gear is moved via the gear lever on the left side of the cockpit. In the up position, the gear will retract. In the down position, the gear will extend. The gear lever cannot be put up with weight on wheels. The gear will not retract with the arresting hook down or launch bar extended. The gear lever can be rotated to perform an emergency gear extension, which will depressurize the hydraulics in the gear and allow it to free fall into place.

Controlled by the toe brakes on the rudder pedals, the left and right landing gear have independent brakes.

Part of your specific problem is the damage modeling of ships is very bare-bones at the moment with no modular or localized damage.

I know that all too well. Again, problem resides in the ship damage modeling. For whatever reason they take more damage from impact-based bombs versus penetration bombs. The problem is the ship, not the weapon. Use Walleye for ships instead and yes damage model is bad atm. That's beside the point - AGMC is realistically used by the Navy against ships even moving ones, with terminal IR guidance ; I highly doubt that GBU would be a weapon of choice for that, as it provides almost zero standoff capability.

I'm only saying that's my go-to since the Neustrashimy can't target GBUs with the navalized Tor or CIWS, and I can stay above it's engagement range as it can't engage anything roughly above 20,ft or so. It's not supposed to be a realistic payload, it's just what works for me until the naval damage model is improved.

Also keep in mind I mentioned using GBUs, which can be classified as standoff with enough speed and angels. There's nothing really left for me to contribute to this discussion, the ship damage model is out-of-date and is eventually going to be upgraded so that weapons like the JSOW or Harpoon will be more viable; changing the damage values of the weapon itself is not a proper solution. What Tholozor said Ship damage models are really too crude for proper weapon simulation to make much of a difference. Simply buffing the damage, is a solution but an interim one at best. Obviously this is providing that higher fidelity warhead modelling is something feasible to do though aircraft manage pretty well, even with the unimproved damage models.

Besides, for ships in particular they can be mission killed without outright sinking, even if set ablaze A single GBU on a frigate like a Neutrashimyy class should be enough to inflict major damage, potentially enough to cause the ship to lose it's ability to fight obviously depending on precisely where the bomb lands and if it manages to penetrate before exploding, at the moment DCS doesn't do this - localised hitboxes are far too coarse and AFAIK only serve for graphical damage.

EDIT: It looks like most ships have hitboxes for individual weapons and in the cases of the Slava a 3 of it's antennae. Legacy assets like the old Kuznetsov, Neutrashimyy, Krivk II etc have a single hitbox for the whole ship, though I don't think subsystems damage is actually implemented. Hull and superstructure is a different kettle of fish if we were to go high fidelity.

If you were hoping to get your hands on the JSOW this week it seems that you may have to wait a bit longer. So a little wait is no big deal. Random question, has anyone done any Vietnam skins for the Hornet? I cannot find any. Like Like.

To enable terminal guidance with IIR seeker, the missile's on board memory has to be preloaded with images of the target. The IIR seeker will then look for the same image and home in.

I don't know if it can follow a moving, non-preloaded target in an ideal background, such as a ship at sea. To use the above in DCS, we'd need to be able to define the target before takeoff, probably in the Mission Editor.

I guess this can come alongside the DTC, where you'll be able to select a target out of a list of valid units currently present in the mission.

Until that happens though, whether the IIR seeker is modeled or not remains irrelevant. If the JSOW-C version we get used it though, it'd be pretty sweet to have the functionality, eventually.

Global Achievements. I don't know if the bunker buster version just also comes with stealth coating, but it seems to slip past the SA site just fine, while the cluster version always gets detected and targeted by the missiles. Is this supposed to happen? Showing 1 - 2 of 2 comments. Hi I have tested this recently and results vary, AGMA can be goal kept by SA but it also depends on how saturated the target is already.

If you have a short track replay I would be happy to take a look thanks. Hey again bignewy lol. To be fair the target wasn't very saturated in the first place as i was just practicing. I'm not an expert in the slightest i just figured since they both had pretty much the same body shape they would have the same results with radar.
